Parties 4 Peace (P4P), a non-profit event and fundraising organization co-created by Peace Boat International Coordinator Emilie McGlone, celebrated it’s 10 year anniversary last Saturday at TBA in Brooklyn. In honor of hosting events that have funded a multitude of causes around the world, P4P did what they do best — hosted another successful party to raise both funds and awareness for the Music & Art Peace Academy (MAPA) Project.
The MAPA project invites young aspiring artists on board the Peace Boat to attend workshops, visit sites, and engage with locals, all while furthering their musical talents during a shortened portion of a Peace Boat global voyage. During their time on board, young students collaborate with one another on a shared piece of art — such as a song or a video — that explores the Peace Boat themes of sustainability, peace, and cross-cultural exchange.
Not only did the 10th anniversary party donate 100% of door proceeds to fund the MAPA project, but P4P also organized an incredible raffle of over 20 unique prizes, from hand-crafted jewelry, to a private yoga session or haircut. All proceeds collected from the raffle was raised and donated towards relief efforts in the Philippines following the disaster left behind by Typhoon Haiyan. Check out some photos from the highly successful evening below!
All in all, P4P raised over $3,000, all of which will go towards funding the young artists to come on board the Peace Boat as a participant with the MAPA Project.
